How to book a CheckMark appointment

CheckMark helps eligible BC patients access focused skin spot assessment through teledermoscopy. Your appointment takes place at a participating pharmacy or clinic, where trained staff capture standardized images of your skin spot. A licensed BC dermatologist then reviews the images and provides a report with recommended next steps.

CheckMark is covered by MSP for eligible patients with a valid BC Services Card. A referral from a family doctor or nurse practitioner is required before booking.

Have a family doctor?

Ask your family doctor or nurse practitioner if CheckMark is appropriate for your skin concern. Download the referral form below and bring it to your appointment, or share it with your provider.

Once your referral is submitted, you’ll be able to book an appointment at a participating CheckMark location for image capture.

Don’t have a family doctor?

If you do not have a family doctor or nurse practitioner, you may be able to request a virtual referral through Rocket Doctor. A Rocket Doctor provider can assess whether CheckMark is appropriate for your concern and submit a referral if eligible.

What happens after your referral?

1. Referral received & appointment booked
2. Images are captured

Once CheckMark receives your referral from a provider, you’ll receive a booking link to schedule an appointment at a participating CheckMark location.

CheckMark helps guide the next steps. This may include reassurance, monitoring, an in-person visit, biopsy, surgery, or another appropriate care pathway.

A licensed BC dermatologist reviews the images and provides a report with recommended next steps, typically within 48-72 hours.
